DG DAN'S THANK YOU MESSAGE JULY 2019

Dear Rotary Family,

Kim and I do not know where to begin in thanking each and every one of you for the honor of being your District Governor and First Lady. Actually, for me, I do know where to begin. First by thanking God for leading me to an organization where I have been able to do "Good" in the World where other groups have only found closed doors. I also give thanks to him for giving me the courage and conviction to step forward and undertake the road to being your Governor when at the time, it was to be done alone. I remember hearing the phrase while on a Walk to Emmaus years ago that "God Doesn't Call the Equipped, He Equips the Called." That phrase my Rotary Family, is so very true. Along the road leading to being your District Governor, a woman came into my life and we both not only fell in love with each other, but she also fell in love with Rotary. For the first time in 24 years I would no longer be a Rotarian alone but would finally have a Rotary partner to do service with around the world. She has been a partner that has been invaluable to me in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position. Kim has not only been a "Godsend" to me but a voice to champion the need to bring awareness to our District about human trafficking.

The experiences we have shared, the people we have met and the knowledge of Rotary and the communities we have visited will forever be a "close to the heart" memory.

Many times the question has been asked of me: "What is being a District Governor like?" "It has been wonderful," is always my response. Accepting the position of being in the Governor's line in the spring of 2016 is the best decision I have ever made in my life as a volunteer. I encourage every Rotarian to serve as an officer in their respective clubs, every officer to be a club president, every president to assist at the District level. Perhaps be an Assistant Governor and then a Governor.

In closing, I thank you all for the honor to serve and encourage each one of you to continue to "Be the Inspiration" to your clubs and communities.

God Bless Texas and Rotary!
